An Auburn Cuppa Joe
It's possible that everyone loves to walk into a coffee shop, take a deep breath and feel invigorated by the scent of coffee beans, roasted, toasted and ground. I know I do.
There are several local purveyors of the black brew in Auburn, and they all have their specialties, but today I want to share with you my love of Auburn Coffee Company. Here's why: On a gloomy February day, this coffee shop offers the perfect kind of cozy.
That's because the shop feels like home, as it's housed in a sweet little cottage -- with a fireplace -- and every nook offers a comfy chair surrounded by local art, and each window affords a view of Auburn's majestic courthouse with its copper dome and surrounding statues of Lady Justice (but that's a blog post for another day).
Coffee not your style? There are many other goodies of which to partake, including, bagels, cinnamon rolls, pastries and sandwiches. If you're thirsty for something decaf, Auburn Coffee Company also offers an assortment of smoothies and even a kombucha bar with local brew -- fill your growler!
Finally, the staff is just the right amount of helpful and chatty. They'll entertain you with tales of adventure if you're up for a spot of conversation, but if you prefer to sit quietly and read your book or study, they'll make space for you.
But don't let all this coziness lead you to believe that you can't hang out in at the coffee shop when the weather is fine. In fact, Auburn Coffee Company is perfectly placed as a stop on a jaunt from Old Town to Downtown Auburn, and its outdoor patio is right up the hill from Placer Grown Saturday farmers' market, so on a warm summer morning you might pop in for an iced coffee after filling your basket with peaches and peppers. Children and dogs are welcome to lounge on the patio, too.
For more information about Auburn Coffee Company, check out the website, call 530-613-6500 or stop by the shop at 1425 Lincoln Way. It's open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
